Les « thèmes » sont un flux de ressources générées ou créés par le personnel de l’IETM et par nos membres. Les sujets mis en avant nous semblent actuellement essentiels pour le secteur des arts du spectacle : la relation avec le public, les politiques culturelles de l'UE, la diversité et l’intégration, la durabilité du secteur, la valeur des arts dans la société, et les divers paradigmes, défis et aspirations qui sont vécus aux quatre coins du monde.

My first contact with the concept of cultural appropriation happened in July 2015 because of “Kimono Wednesdays” at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston (MFA). On the occasion of the display of Claude Monet’s “La Japonaise” (a painting of the artist’s wife, surrounded by fans, wearing a blond wig and a bright red kimono), visitors were invited to put on a kimono similar to the one shown on the painting and share their photos on social media.
Is there an ‘expiry date’ for being an emerging artist? What if an artist’s career veers off the trodden paths and traditional routes, and keeps on emerging in new environments and in new shapes?
This speech is a call to broaden our canon and continue making transnational alliances in an effort to make institutions better reflect the differences in society, which will ultimately benefit the cultural (and other professional) sectors.
German minister of culture Monika Grütters announced on May 2 that the country plans to increase its arts funding by approximately $353 million, Monopol reports. If approved by parliament, the $2 billion budget for culture and media would be increased by 23 percent from the previous year.

There is no doubt that making a commitment to assist artists at risk is tough. It is challenging enough to read about the plight of persecuted populations in the papers or watch news of oppression on television. The narratives and images yank at our hearts, cause our stomachs and throats to knot up. Sometimes the images haunt us for days. Eventually, though, we change the channel, toss the paper out, and get on with our lives.
We are living in a moment when many contemporary artists have turned to social engagement as an artistic form. Like philosophers, they bring into an investigative light the behaviours, words, and deeds that society is taking for granted.
IETM welcomes the outline of the new Creative Europe programme, which is seemingly more oriented towards social and democratic values, empowering citizens, promoting fundamental rights and democratic participation, and “sustaining open, inclusive and creative societies”. The European Commission has released its proposal for the European Union’s future budget (2021-2027). Read our reaction and share it as widely as possible.
On the 2nd of May, the European Commision released its proposal for the EU’s budget for 2021-2027, a “pragmatic plan for how to do more with less.” (J-C. Juncker). Overall, the Commission proposes a long-term budget of €1,135 billion . Taking into account inflation, this is comparable to the size of the current 2014-2020 budget.
