Independent Performing Arts in Ukraine: Catalogue of the Antonin Artaud Fellowship
The Antonin Artaud Fellowship has published a catalogue featuring 23 performative works created by independent artists in Ukraine over the past three years. The catalogue is printed in English and Ukrainian and is available for online viewing. You can also request a printed copy through the link.
Founded in 2022 by proto produkciia and Opera aperta, the Antonin Artaud Fellowship supports independent performing artists in Ukraine, creating conditions for experimentation and innovation. We support small-scale experimental works that have the potential for further development.
The works in the catalogue are arranged chronologically—from the first supported in 2022 to the latest supported in 2024. Each entry includes brief descriptions and reflections from authors and audiences. Supplementary materials, such as photographs, are available on the website and on Flickr. The featured works have been presented in various cities across Ukraine and internationally, including Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Berlin, Bucharest, and Madrid.
Over the past three years, the Fellowship’s activities have been made possible thanks to the support of numerous partners. We invite collaboration with those interested in further supporting the development and extending the program's impact to ensure the sustainable growth of independent performative art in Ukraine. We are open to discussing opportunities for cooperation — contact us via [email protected].
“What will happen in 40 years? We don’t know. Some say the internet might not exist by then, and we could lose access to all online information. We made this printed catalogue with the hope that, somewhere, it will survive — even when we’re no longer alive. Someone might leaf through it and learn something about our time. I’m grateful that, even if not right away, the Per Forma program supported this documentation effort. We often know so little about important things simply because there’s no place where we can read about them,” says Olga Diatel, co-founder of the Fellowship.
