IETM Munich Plenary Meeting 2018
Under the theme Res Publica Europa, IETM Munich has gathered 467 performing arts professionals for a collective exercise of reimagining the European project. During four days we reflected on how the European idea relates to various identities existing within, across and outside the continent, discussed the role of art in enhancing civic participation and new forms of citizenship, and exchanged ideas on how to better advocate for the arts.
The meeting’s programme has also tackled some of the most vital issues affecting the performing arts professionals today: international collaboration in the field of production, relations with audiences, gender equality, art and globalisation, art in rural areas, and artists' mobility, among others.
Curated around the meeting’s theme, the artistic programme was an eclectic selection of performances from the German-speaking realm. Besides, participants had the opportunity to meet with the artists involved in the artistic works presented and dive into discussions about their creative processes and aesthetics.
A series of artistic walks and a guided tour gave us the opportunity to discover the hidden history behind buildings and landmarks of the Bavarian capital, and get an insider’s view on the local booming artistic and creative neighbourhoods. The meeting’s informal atmosphere and the multiple networking and mentorship opportunities it offered allowed participants to develop new professional connections and forge alliances to make a stand for the arts in tomorrow’s world.
IETM Munich was organised in collaboration with Meta Theater.
