IETM Green School: Open Call for members 
Develop your greening projects with support from experts and training from the field

What is the IETM Green School?

In 2022 we introduced Local Journeys for Change (LJC), a new IETM training programme aimed at empowering IETM members to bring positive change to their local professional contexts, local communities or policy-making fields. 

In 2023, we added the IETM Green School to the LJC Programme, offering more extensive training to our members while staying true to the original objective of gathering local perspectives. The need for the training was identified through a membership survey conducted in March, where members stated that they lacked the knowledge to start the green transition in their organisations or daily work.

This spring, we hosted three online sessions of the Green School, focusing on greening tools, sustainable creation & production and climate justice. 

We also held an in-person info session at the IETM Aarhus Plenary Meeting 2023, as well as interactive Toolbox sessions which continued to deepen these concepts.

This autumn, we will offer a two-month-long training programme for IETM members only, who will receive a small stipend to compensate for their time. The programme will offer a series of workshops, peer working sessions and coachings.

Training structure

The training will take place online in October - December in two strands:

October: weekly hands on sessions where participants discover and are guided through a tool, approach or framework taking place on three consecutive Thursdays between 14:00-16:00 CET

  • 5 October: Climate Justice as the foundation for organisational environmental policy (workshop by Sarah O’Hare from Creative Carbon) and an opening talk on the topic of Climate Justice by Dr Vishwas Satgar Climate/Culture 
  • 12 October: Self Assessment as a road to Green Action Plan (workshop by Emmanuelle Lejeune)
  • 19 October: Sustainable Cultural Management (Or how to lead in times of transition) (workshop by Iphigenia Taxopolou)

November-December: targeted group sessions and coachings based on proposed project ideas about the green transition. 

Participants will:

  • Work on their ideas in smaller peer groups based on the topics/areas of interest identified in their application. Each group will be guided by an expert coach on the topic (up to two sessions of max 90 min in November per group). 
  • Have a coach available for one individual session of up to 90 min for help with the idea development and troubleshooting. 
  • Present the development of their idea through the training at the session on 7 December. This session will be open to all IETM members and coaches of the programme.
Who is the call for?

All current IETM members wishing to work on a green transitioning idea for their organisation or freelance activity. Having a clear idea or a plan members wish to tackle and develop is compulsory in order to be eligible.

The maximum capacity for the programme is 40 participants.

This call is open to all those who became IETM members before 5 July 2023. 

What is on offer?

Selected participants will receive a €500 stipend for time dedicated to the Green School training from IETM´s Creative Europe Network grant. The stipend will be paid to the participants upon completion of the training if all the requirements are met.

The training programme will be customised to the needs of the selected proposals.

What are the requirements?

Participants will have to attend at least 70% of the program and present a development of the initial project ideas at the 7 December open session, as well as write a short report on their process.

How will the evaluation be made?

Applicants are requested to describe the idea they want to work on as well as answer two additional questions:

  • What motivates you to apply for the training?
  • What practical implications, conclusions or results to implement in your local context do you envision from this idea?

Applications will be evaluated by an internal selection committee, which will comprise of the Green School Project Coordinator, Project Co Facilitator and an IETM team member appointed by the IETM Board of Directors. The main criteria for selection is the relevance of the idea for the local context. In case there are more applications than available spots, the selection committee will make sure to select a balanced group of applicants in regards to their thematic scope but also considering geographic location, gender, type of organisation and performing arts discipline.
