Local Journeys for Change: Training and grant for local action

2022 - 2023
What is it all about?

We are happy to announce our new project that will run in two strands throughout 2022 and 2023, as part of our Creative Europe Network grant.

Local Journeys for Change (LJC) is a training programme for IETM members aimed to empower them to bring positive change to their local professional context, local communities or policy-making field. Through training, mentorship, peer-review exercise, exchange with a wider IETM network and financial support, up to 25 members each year will receive support to realise a small-scale project back home to tackle issues that are most relevant to their local reality.

Local activities can include developing strategies for organisations, awareness-raising events, workshops for local artists, other professionals and/or institutions, media and advocacy campaigns, developing new models for contracts, codes of conduct or collaborations, and many more.

What is LJC in 2022?

The theme of our first LJC is Inclusivity, Equality and Fairness. This is an opportunity for IETM members to design and implement strategies for fair, equal and inclusive  transitions in their local milieus. The theme is wide and can include any topic that is most pressing for your organisation, local communities or yourself as a performing arts professional: for example, fair collaboration practices, gender equality, power relations, diversity of the performing arts field and audiences, access for people with disabilities, social status of artists, and more.

LJC can help you to realise a new idea or implement a part of an ongoing project.

Selected projects will be announced in March 2022, and are expected to start in spring 2022 and end by 30 November 2022.

What is on offer?

Selected applicants will receive a small grant to reimburse their costs in connection to their LJC activities. The total budget available for the grants in 2022 is €31.250. If 25 projects are selected, each applicant/project can receive a maximum of €1.250.

Alongside the grant, LJC’ers will take part in a training and a few mentorship sessions. They will also get feedback on their Local Journeys from peer participants and will be asked to provide peer review to one of LJC’ers. All participants will be asked to share their experiences during IETM Events and help IETM to collect knowledge and insights for the final report.

Who can apply?

Any IETM member, based anywhere in the world, which does not have a position as a  funder, can apply to take part in the LJC.

How will the evaluation be made?

Applicants are requested to describe the LJC project they want to work on and answer two additional questions:

  • What urgency drives you to want to implement this project?
  • How will your project innovate your current practices and inspire change in your community?

A Selection Committee will comprise three IETM members who have been appointed by the IETM Board of Directors. Main criteria looked at will be relevance of the idea for the local context, quality of the project and its innovation potential. The Selection Committee will make sure to select a balanced group of applicants, in terms of their geographic location, thematic scope of their project, gender, type of organisation and performing arts discipline.

How to apply?

The applications for the Local Journeys for Change 2022 closed on 7 February at 23:59 CET.
