Ethics of Engagement
Contemporary arts are deeply enrooted in societal issues: they reflect, comment, criticize and question our societies and the times we live in. Artists and arts operators are more and more incited and willing to engage with the society. But is any engagement – good engagement? The risk of failure is great and the responsibility even greater: we need to understand often extremely complex issues, make ethical judgments and act responsibly if we are to help solving the problem and avoid becoming a part of it. How do we choose the right battle and how do we fight it the right way?
