Arts and Human Rights
In what way can the performing arts community engage itself in the furthering of human rights? In 2010, IETM was a founding member of an informal, International Coalition for Arts, Human Rights and Social Justice (ICARJ). Since then, pressure on artists and cultural workers has increased, as well as the interest of arts and human rights groups to collaborate in Europe and globally. In February a new EU Working Group on arts and human rights was inaugurated, which IETM is chairing. And already there is an international working group imagining a global monitoring system for abuses of artistic freedom of expression. Come and hear what’s happening, what IETM is doing and who else is involved. Give your views!
