IETM Multi-location in Istanbul (online)
Given current travel and gathering restrictions, the local Plenary meeting in Istanbul, Turkey, will be hosted entirely online by our member Theatre Cooperative. Please find below the introduction by the local host, as well as the local programme and practical information of the local meeting.
Introduction by the local host
Founded in June 2019, Theatre Cooperative is an Istanbul based social cooperative representing private theatres in the professional field. With its unique organisational structure, it is the first of its kind in Turkey. Its main objectives are developing economically beneficial projects for its partners; collaborating with relevant authorities for legislative amendments; becoming an information and consultation center for Turkey’s theatre sector; and ensuring the national and international dissemination of theatre art.
Currently, Theatre Cooperative has 60 partners, and its Board of Directors consists of 5 theatre professionals: Iraz Yöntem (President), Yeşim Özsoy (Vice President), Ersin Umut Güler (Board Member), Mert Fırat (Board Member), and Muharrem Uğurlu (Board Member). During the COVID-19 pandemic, Theatre Cooperative has actively contributed to the resilience of theatre in Turkey by conducting negotiations with the Republic of Turkey Ministry Of Culture and Tourism, and developing a fundraising project.
We are happy to be part of the hosts of IETM Multi-location 2020 and invite you to join our online session on Friday 2 October from 11:30-13:30 CEST to discuss What Matters Now for the performing arts.
