We welcome all organisations and freelance/self-employed professionals who are professionally engaged in the development and distribution of new, innovative contemporary performing arts, as well as in artistic collaboration and exchange across national borders. In addition, we ask our members to commit to the aim of IETM to advocate for the value of arts and culture within our societies and subscribe to our basic values of generosity, responsibility, solidarity and openness.
Please note that freelance/self-employed professionals are here defined as individuals who are not salaried employees, neither part-time nor full-time, by an organisation which itself would be applicable for the IETM membership. They also do not work on a continuous or regular basis with an organisation who would be applicable for IETM membership.
The IETM membership applies to the freelance/self-employed member or to the whole member organisation. This means that all the employees and board members of a member organisation benefit from the IETM membership, as long as they have an online IETM account registered under the organisation.
Our membership runs for one calendar year, from January to December, regardless of when you join during the year. The membership is automatically renewed every January, unless you inform us of the cancellation in writing before a set deadline.
You can read and download our internal rules here. These internal rules stand as a contract between you and IETM and you will have to approve them when submitting your membership application.
The annual IETM membership fee is based on the annual turnover of your organisation / freelance activities (total income received in one year: subsidies, ticketing, sponsorship, subsidies or other kinds of support from public or private funds, etc.) and is valid from January to December of the current year.
The fees are adjusted to inflation rates every 5 years (the next adjustment will take place in 2025). Please note that, in some cases, we may ask you to share with us your organisation’s financial report from the past year. Each fee includes € 20 of admin & bank charges (already calculated in the table below):

“Becoming a member of the IETM community gave us the opportunity to meet, exchange and collaborate with our peers. A wonderful energy which helps our very young company to grow faster and in a more relevant and sustainable way.” – Théo Majcher, Alter Ego (X), France
"It’s since different years that I am following IETM, taking part in meetings and debates, meeting colleagues and friends. I joined IETM because it’s a space where I have had the opportunity to be inspired.
