In this session we will explore community as a central force in cultural practice: who we need beside us and how we build the relationships that allow meaningful, lasting change to happen. We will look at how artists and cultural practitioners shape the ecosystems they work in through the collaborations they foster and the audiences they bring into contact with one another.
We will focus on approaches that intentionally create encounters between people who might not otherwise meet, and reflect on what it means to design cultural spaces where such exchanges can take place with care and purpose. Provocations from practitioners working in different contexts will offer grounded perspectives on how ideas of community inform artistic decisions, organisational choices and public engagement strategies.
Through discussion, you will be invited to share your own experiences, challenges and questions, and to reflect collectively on what sustains relationships over time in cultural work.
