Between you, me and the four walls / Spectral (my lake of eggs) - Michelle Browne
Performance art from the visual arts has recently experienced a resurgence in Ireland, which has resulted in many Irish artists traveling and performing at live art and performance art venues and festivals throughout the world. To give you a taste of the powerful work being made in Ireland, the IETM Dublin organisers and Dublin City Council have commissioned three new pieces by internationally renowned performance artists.
Spectral (my lake of eggs) by Áine Phillips, is a live performance where one woman embodies sumptuous madness, a sculptural entrapment and ecstatic anaesthesia. She recounts narratives of self-destruction, institutional care; embodying a freedom in madness that is stifled through societal attitudes, while producing a burning retina image of love and desire for life. Sound by composer Trevor Knight.
