Covid-19 travel regulations
According to the current regulations in France, you will have to scan your Sanitary Pass in order to enter any of the venues. You can either show your vaccination pass or obtain your Sanitary Pass by having a negative PCR test result (72h) or even a negative antigenic test performed by a professional at a pharmacy (48h). You will obtain a QR code that you will be able to scan.
A pharmacy test costs around 34€.
Before booking your travel, please check the travel regulations of your destination(s). Please make sure you also check here the list of countries whose citizens can get into France without restrictions. Also, check the regulations of the country where you are based, which might still limit the destinations to which you can travel.
Please be aware that local Covid-19 regulations may affect your journey as well as the meeting until the very last minute. For the latest information, please feel free to check the official governmental information here.
Please note that for performances and restaurants, you will need to show your vaccination pass either in a digital or printed form. You can download the French app TousAntiCovid or use the EU Digital COVID Certificate scheme, for travelers from the European Union, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland and the Vatican.
Accessibility
Lyon has been awarded the 2018 Access City Award by the European Commission and the European Disability Forum and, as the 3rd largest city in France, its main priority has been to invest in independent mobility throughout the city.
Overall, the city is mostly flat apart from the emblematic Pentes de la Croix Rousse (69001) and the hill of Fourvière (69005). All metro stations are wheelchair accessible, with the exception of Croix Paquet.
Audio-tactile crossings are also widespread in the city.

It is our aim to make IETM Lyon as accessible as possible. However, it may not be possible to offer services at every location and, therefore, we recommend that you check the location of your interest.

At the meeting
There will be a range of accessibility services available.
As we have budget restrictions and are dependent on the local infrastructure, we cannot always guarantee that the conditions will be the same from one meeting to another. Nevertheless, for this meeting we are able to:
- Offer a free registration to your support worker;
- Send you a large-print version of the programme;
- Provide speech-to-text captions for 18 hours of the conference programme. Details of these services will be available online upon confirmation of the full programme.
- Ensure that all the venues hosting the working programme and artistic performances are wheelchair accessible.

The Célestins Theatre was originally a monastery built in the 18th century. Direct access to the auditorium is available via the elevator situated at 4 rue Charles Dullin. The lift will take you to the ticket office, to the atrium, to the orchestra pit and stalls, as well as to the Célestine theater and the Etourdi bar. The toilets are located in the atrium hall, near the orchestra area in the Grande salle.

Théâtre Comédie Odéon (Opening)

The Théâtre Comédie Odéon is an emblematic venue as it was the first permanent cinema in Lyon before becoming the CNP Odéon and then Grôlée, a legendary art and essay cinema. The cinema then closed its doors in 200, oepning again as a theater in 2012 under the name of Comédie Odéon.

A contemporary theatre directed by the company "Les Trois Huit", the NTH8 is a creation space that gathers artists and companies from different backgrounds : music theatre, creative writing. The Nouveau Théâtre du Huitième hosts every year Regards d’avril, a theatre festival dedicated to language experimentation particularly with French and French sign language.
The venue is wheelchair adapted. For wheelchair users, the access is done via the entrance of Espace 101 (bd des Etats-Unis, 101).
If you come by car, there are dedicated parking spots on the boulevard.

The Bac à sable is an ephemeral venue independently run by the Ineffable Théâtre. Every year, the theatre company recovers an abandoned urban location in the Lyon agglomeration and turns it into a space for contemporary creation and artistic research. The Bac à sable offers a transdisciplinary programme all year round.
The venue is based in the former Ateliers d’Oullins, a workshop that was firstly dedicated to building bridges and ships and then had a prominent role in the construction of the new railway system in the 19th century. There are two adjacent rooms on the ground level, which have step-free access. Please note that there are currently no wheelchair accessible toilets at the venue.

Founded in 1920, Théâtre National Populaire moved from the Palais Chaillot in Paris to Villeurbanne in 1972. It is a prestigious institution in the history of French theatre and in cultural decentralisation in France.
The venue is wheelchair accessible and the entrance to the Grand théâtre is done via a lift located on Square Lazare-Goujon, near the entrance of the public pool. The videophone on the lift will connect you to the staff of the theatre.
The entrance to the Petit théâtre is located at 162 rue Louis Becker.

Getting to Lyon
By train
We recommend that you travel by train, if you can, since you can reach Lyon by train from a number of European cities such as Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, Luxembourg, Milano, Turin.
It is also possible to reach Lyon from other cities via Paris, so please consider the option for the sake of the environment.
Advance booking is recommended as train fares can increase considerably.
There are two main train stations : Lyon Part Dieu and Lyon Perrache.
By bus
There are a number of good value bus services to/from Lyon and other European cities.
The main bus terminal is Lyon Perrache. You can book a coach trip from most domestic and international coach companies such as Blabla bus, Alsa, Eurolines and Flixbus.
By air
The international airport in Lyon is Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS).
The simplest transport option from Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport to Lyon city centre is the Rhônexpress tram. The Rhônexpress operates every 20 minutes during the day, and every 30 minutes from 4:25 am to 6 am and from 9 pm to midnight.
It takes around 40 minutes to Lyon Part Dieu railway station.
The single fare is 15,20€ and the return fare is 26,50€. You can purchase your tickets here.
Getting Around
Public transport
Considering the distances, the Lyon public transport system is undoubtedly the best way to move around the city. It can take up to 1 hour to reach certain venues in Lyon and its suburban areas, so please make sure you check out the routes and travel times in advance.

If you have an Android, we recommend that you buy a 7 day pass which you can use by downloading the TCL app. The pass costs € 20.
Cycling
Lyon has many Vélo’V bicycle points spread around the city. A single ride costs 1.80€ and a day pass costs 4€.

A number of different licensed taxi firms operate in Lyon. There are several taxi ranks throughout the city too. If you need to book a wheelchair accessible vehicle, we recommend to use:

Accommodation
Given the configuration of the meeting, we could not necessarily recommend a limited number of hotels, like we usually do. We do recommend, however, that you stay close to a metro station or tram stop, preferably on tram lines T2 and T4 or metro lines A and D, which will easily connect you to all the venues on our programme.

If you’re not from an EEA country, you must have a valid passport to enter France, and it must be valid for the whole of your stay.
