Support Fat Festival 2026
Help FAT Festival 2026 Bring Independent Theatre Across Borders
117 applications. More than 30 countries. Six selected performances. One independent theatre festival — and your chance to help make it happen.
The Festival of Authorial Theatre (FAT Festival) is an independent theatre festival in Sofia, Bulgaria, dedicated to contemporary theatre, bold artistic voices and performances that engage with the world we live in.
The seventh edition takes place from 27 to 29 November 2026 at Toplocentrala, Youth Theatre “Nikolay Binev” and Theatre O3 in Sofia. This year, we received 117 applications from more than 30 countries and selected six performances from across Europe. Together with partner festivals in North Macedonia and Kosovo, we are building connections that help independent artists and their work travel across borders.
Why do we need your support?
FAT Festival receives support from Sofia Municipality, but this covers only part of the costs of organising an international festival. Independent cultural organisations rely on project-based funding and partnerships to cover essential expenses and provide fair conditions for artists and festival teams.
We have the programme, the artists and the international connections. Now we need your help to make it happen.
What will your donation support?• Travel and accommodation for visiting artists
• Meals for our guests
• Technical and production costs
• Fair remuneration for the festival team
• Printing and promotional materials
Every contribution makes a difference. Your donation will help us welcome international artists to Sofia, support the people working behind the scenes and create space for independent theatre to thrive.
If you believe independent theatre matters, please consider supporting FAT Festival 2026. Every donation counts — and sharing this campaign is another valuable way to help.
