    SIRENOS Lithuanian Theatre Showcase

SIRENOS Lithuanian theatre showcase is curated by theatrologists Kristina Steiblytė and Alma Braškytė.

The showcase will feature five productions by state theatres and five created by independent companies. In addition to famous international authors (Bernard-Marie Koltès's "West Pier" and Florian Zeller's "The Mother"), we are pleased to present new Lithuanian plays (Virginija Rimkaitė's absurdist drama "Patina" and Justas Tertelis mono-play "PRAeis"), as well as pieces adapted from novels or dramas (Yana Ross's "Consider the Lobster", based on David Foster Wallace's prose, and the adaptation of Albert Camus's "Caligula", directed by Jokūbas Brazys). In addition, there will be plays, inspired by documentary research, personalities and texts (Kamilė Gudmonaitė's taxophone opera "Things I Didn't Dare to Say, and Now It's Too Late" and Paulius Markevičius experiential play "Cafè existans"). For a change of sight, we will give you a brief glance at Lithuanian visual theatre (Žilvinas Vingelis' "Dilettante", a play about Jean Cocteau) and contemporary dance ("Lustopia" by Silke Z., Laurynas Žakevičius and Airida Gudaitė).

As usual, Lithuanian productions will be awarded three prizes which will be determined by international jury members: Anna Maria Strauss (Germany), Patricia Portela (Portugal), Glyn Roberts (Australia), Kris Nelson (UK) and Rok Vevar (Slovenia).
