Open call: Residency for performing arts professionals from Moldova, Sakartvelo and Ukraine (Mykolaiv Region)
Proto produkciia foundation, in partnership with the Ukrainian-Danish Youth House in Mykolaiv, with support of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is opening applications for a five-day residency in Moldova for early- and mid-career performing arts professionals from Ukraine (Mykolaiv region), Moldova, and Sakartvelo.
In contexts that can no longer be described simply as unstable, uncertain or unpredictable, practitioners keep finding ways to sustain their work, developing approaches that let their projects and organisations survive without relying on stability. The growth of an artistic practice depends not only on its quality, but on the constant effort of securing resources, building partnerships, and shaping sustainable forms of management.
The residency, part of the project Horizontal Laboratory: Collaborative Action and Co-Creation, is built around peer-led exchange, hands-on testing of collaborative tools, and the value of simply being present together. Twenty artists, managers, and producers will spend five days together at an ecovillage space near Chișinău, testing collaboration tools and reflecting collectively on long-term sustainability in the independent performing arts sector. No output or performance is expected, only a willingness to share experience and take part in a temporary learning community.
Applications are open to professionals from all regions of Moldova and Sakartvelo, and from Ukraine's Mykolaiv region. Professional duos are welcome to apply separately, naming one another in the form.
Participants will receive:
- accommodation and vegetarian meals
- travel reimbursement
- fee for those who contribute a session or activity to the programme
Working language: English
Deadline: Saturday, 12 September 2026, 23:59 CET
