FEST Conference 2017 - Ireland, June 21-24
WHEN
FEST and Storytellers of Ireland invite you to join us for the 10th Federation for European Storytelling Conference from Wednesday 21 until Saturday 24 June 2017.
WHERE
The conference will take place in An Grianán Conference Centre in Termonfeckin, County Louth, Ireland. This beautiful venue near the sea is close to the mouth of the famous river Boyne and to all the great sites in this mythological landscape. It is also well known for a comfortable and creative atmosphere and the excellent Irish home-cooking of local produce as developed by the Irish Countrywomen’s Association.
OVERVIEW
Since County Louth is part of the border region between Northern Ireland (U.K.) and the Republic of Ireland, the theme of the conference will be Storytelling in Borderlands. On Friday 23 June we will travel to Co. Armagh to visit Emhain Mhacha (Navan Fort), the seat of the ancient Kingdom of Ulster, and Armagh City, which is now the Ecclesiastical Capital of Ireland. Delegates will have an opportunity to appreciate the rich shared culture of this Border region once known as the ancient Kingdom of Oriel.
PROGRAMME
Conference workshop topics will include: Storytelling and Education; Storytelling with Refugees and New Migrants; Storytelling in Minority Languages; Storytelling and Conflict Resolution; Stories in Translation; Storytelling and Contemporary Culture; Reminiscence Work and Story-collecting from Dementia Patients; Oral and Written Stories; and more.
Ireland’s unique School’s Collection and National Folklore Collection will be introduced will be introduced to delegates and there will be an opportunity to hear about the support for European co-operative projects under the Creative Europe funding and support for cultural projects. There will be an opportunity to discuss projects with colleagues and with representatives from Creative Europe in Ireland.

FEST members: €245 sharing or €275 single room (single rooms are limited and not all are ensuite)
Non-members sharing: €245 + €75
Non-members single room: €275 + €75
Cost includes continental breakfast, lunch, and 2-course dinner.
