Below you can find the preliminary programme of IETM Lyon. Some sessions are still subject to change. The full programme of IETM Lyon will be published in September 2021. If you are registered for the event, you will receive the full programme via email upon publication.

Foreword from the co-organisers

Monday 16 August 2021

Dear members, friends and colleagues,

We are glad to provide some fresh news about IETM Lyon 2021. You might have noticed that this meeting is far from being old-normal – and you are right!  IETM Lyon 2021 is organised by a strongly-committed and volunteer team of IETM members in a very uncertain context. The meeting is humble yet ambitious, bold yet cautious, and, to some extent, experimental.

We aspire to discuss and address issues as we always did, and we certainly will.  We also aspire to meet old and new peers as we always did, and we certainly will. But most of all, we want to create a much-expected friendly reunion for our network’s members, and the wider sector. We are excited to connect again and celebrate around a tasty piece of IETM’s 40th anniversary cake!

We are looking forward to seeing you on site or online,

Sergio Chianca, Nicolas Bertrand, Ina Studenroth, Frédéric Poty, Sophie Rieu, Claudine van Beneden, Isabelle Andreen, Julien Daillère, Mia Habis, Omar Rajeh, Valérie de Saint-Do, Manuèle Debrinay-Rizos, Philippe Vincent, Lise Eneau-Brun

Pre-meeting online session

Updated date: Wednesday 6 October

SHIFT Online Session on Gender & Power Relations

16:00-17:30 CET – 15:00-16:30 GMT – 10:00-11:30 EST/EDT – 01:00-02:30 AEDT

No matter how striking might particular #MeToo cases be, they are never only related to an individual perpetrator. Sexual harassment and sexual abuse are a form of structural violence and are thus deeply entangled with the gender, racial, economic and power structures.

This online session is a partnership between IETM Lyon 2021 and the SHIFT project. We will present the results of our latest research on sexual harassment, bullying and power abuse in the European art field. The session is an attempt to move the dialogue away from victims towards structures, with the goal of inspiring art institutions and organisations to self-critically reflect on their own position towards the sexual and power abuse and to re-define their work models and structures.

This online session will be followed by a participatory discussion at IETM Lyon 2021 where we will reflect together about the future of the sector and the culture we want to nurture around Gender and Power Relations.
