Arts in rural areas

Talks & workshops

This focus group continues the discussions started in former IETM meetings (Brussels, Cairo, Porto, Wales and Munich). We will address two topics:

Building meaningful collaborations

The biological and cultural diversity in the countryside and the diversity of inhabitants is rapidly changing. Young talented people leave, social and cultural facilities disappear, new cultures arrive with labor-migration and climate refugees, and national cultures ignore regional culture and values.

How do we work in small communities? Can we bridge the gaps between different groups in rural societies? How do we  work in the small rural communities to create trust and meaningful collaborations with its inhabitants?

Expectations of this focus group

What do we, IETM members, working in rural areas, want to get out of the group meetings? A better exchange of experiences, a  refining of our advocacy and getting support for it on a local, regional and national level, creating better tools for networking and learning about each other’s projects? What could you contribute to this group?
