Summer Scriptwriting Base is an immersive learning experience, a unique combination of summer school, creative adventure, and rural retreat. The participants will gain a deep understanding and know-how of new forms and approaches to storytelling: interactive, immersive and environmental storytelling, game and experience design, role-playing, AI. THEME: STORYTELLERS OF THE FUTURE
Technology shapes our lives. Wild inventions like robots, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality have become commonplace for many of us. Step by imperceptible step, we have entered the techno-future that our not-so-distant sci-fi artist predecessors dared to dream into existence. And yet, despite it all, we remain profoundly human. We are biological machines powered by stories: our cognitive and social abilities depend on our storytelling skills. Reason is a form of storytelling, and our brains are storytelling engines. We are homo narratus.
In this Storytellers of the Future edition, we will focus on novel forms and approaches to storytelling. Experience and game design, interactive and immersive storytelling, role-playing and creative AI-enhanced storytelling: all these will become essential instruments in the toolboxes of the storytellers of tomorrow. These innovations push us in two directions at once: they merge digital technologies and storytelling, but they also allow us to reinvent physical storytelling experiences, which are of growing importance in the digital reality in which we now find ourselves.

PARTICIPANTS
Your fellow adventurers in this journey will be creative minds from all over the world. Summer Scriptwriting Base is a mind-blowing creative boost and a truly transformative experience of learning, creating, and sharing. The experience is custom-tailored for creative content makers, writers, game and experience designers, theatre and cinema-makers, multimedia artists, and anyone who considers themselves a creative person.
BASE
Summer Scriptwriting Base will take place in the mountain village of Dolen. Considered one of the most beautiful villages in Bulgaria, Dolen is located deep within the Rhodope Mountains. It is famous for its old traditional houses, earning it the status of National Architectural Reserve. The Rhodope Mountains are among the most unspoiled regions in Bulgaria and are filled with breathtaking views. According to legend, the mountain range was home to the mythological musician Orpheus. More recently, Dolen’s traditional singing was designated an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Traditional 19th-century houses full of authentic charm and cosiness will accommodate the participants.

To join us in this exciting journey you should fill an application form. As we accept on a rolling basis and the number of participants is limited to twenty, we suggest applying as early as possible, but no later than May 15, 2024.
