Summer Scriptwriting Base is an immersive learning experience, a unique blend of summer school, creative adventure, and rural retreat. Participants will explore and gain hands-on expertise in cutting-edge forms and approaches to storytelling, including interactive, immersive and transmedia storytelling, game and experience design, life-action role-playing, and AI. The experience will push creative boundaries and allow you to connect with like-minded storytellers.

THEME
Stories have always had the power to immerse their audiences. Especially the great ones. Whether told around a campfire, performed on stage, or written in books, stories have, since the dawn of civilization, transcended time and space, drawing people into the worlds and lives of their characters.
Today, with rapidly advancing technologies, storytelling is evolving into the art of creating immersive storytelling experiences. Understanding how to craft these experiences is becoming an essential skill for the storytellers of today and tomorrow.
This year, we will take a deep dive into immersive storytelling — exploring narratives that unfold in physical spaces, digital realms, and, most excitingly, those that blend both. We’ll begin with the fundamentals of powerful storytelling, then delve into its contemporary forms: interactive and immersive storytelling, experience design, LARPs (Live Action Role-Playing), transmedia storytelling, the creation of immersive storyworlds, and creative collaboration with AI.

BASE
Storytelling: A Deep Dive will take place in the picturesque mountain village of Dolen. Considered one of the most beautiful villages in Bulgaria, Dolen is nestled deep within the Rhodope Mountains. The village is renowned for its well-preserved traditional houses, earning it the status of a National Architectural Reserve.
The Rhodope Mountains are among Bulgaria’s most unspoiled regions, offering breathtaking views and a rich cultural heritage. According to legend, these mountains were home to the mythological musician Orpheus. More recently, Dolen’s traditional singing was recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Participants will be accommodated in charming, authentic 19th-century mountain houses, providing an immersive and inspiring atmosphere.
