La Briqueterie is a former brick factory that was renovated and opened in 2013. Conceived specifically as a space for dance, it houses 3 dance studios and a theater with a seating capacity of 172.
As a production centre, La Briqueterie supports research and choreographic creations throughout the year by hosting numerous residencies with artists around the world.
Within the framework of its festival, the Val-de-Marne Dance Biennale, La Briqueterie organises 4 weeks of programming in partnership with 30 theatres and cultural institutions in the region Ile de France. In 2017 the Biennale received the designation EFFE (Europe for festivals, festivals for Europe) for its artistic excellence, encouraging diversity of contemporary productions and quality cultural outreach actions.
Each year, La Briqueterie organises Les Plateaux, a 3 days long platform presenting the best of the current emerging dance scene from France and abroad.
With the support of public bodies as the Departmental Council of Val-de-Marne, the State (DRAC Ile-de-France), the Ile-de-France region and the city of Vitry-sur-Seine, La Briqueterie educates citizens on the art of dance through a variety of outreach activities.
