We are happy to announce that we will be presenting the new network ISLAND CONNECT – a residency program for performing arts
ISLAND CONNECT is a collaboration program among three performing arts organisations working with residencies located on (or associated with) European islands of different countries. They are joined in this project by a common interest in contribution to the creation and consolidation of performing arts, with an important ambition to support the artists in their personal and professional development.
· BIRCA (www.birca.org) located at Bornholm/Denmark and run by Susanne Danig.
· C.IN.E. (www.cinesineu.com) placed in Sineu in Mallorca and run by Biel Jordà and Marta Barceló.
· Fund for Others residency program on an island in Croatia (Silba for 2018 pilot program), run by Zvonimir Dobrovic and the organization Domino (www.thisisadominoproject.org).
In its 143 years of existence SAMP keeps innovating in promoting and developing in people the pleasure of artistic practice, to structure the individual and the community.
The strong social intervention of the various programs developed in the context of therapeutic effects of the arts by ‘Núcleo Saúde com Arte’ in which OPERA IN PRISON, with inmates, is a reference, along with other programs, like 'Musica para Bébes'.
By rehearsing a Mozart Opera, followed by a public presentation in its Permanent Centre for Performative Arts, in Prison, inmates are preparing their reintegration in society.
Muted
I’m Tim Wheeler, a performance-maker, arts consultant and teacher…. and a lot of other things beside; a son, a brother, a husband, a dad, a granddad… I was the founder and, and for 26 years, artistic director of Mind the Gap, UK.
Before that, I was a XXXXXX farmer, a male XXXXXXX, a XXXXXX-XXXX attendant, a XXXX XXXXX… the list is long!
I’ve been XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and XXXXXXXXX since I was 14. Doctors call it XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX now. They didn’t back then. Back then, it wasn’t available in the catalogue of disorders. Then, they called me XXXXXXXX, XXXXXXXX and XXXXXXXX
My Grandmother once called me “XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX”. Quite a few people in my family XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX in XXXX. XXXXXXXXXXXXX I didn’t. I went to Art College.
That’s enough about me. It’s uncomfortable. Dangerous even.
So, do you mute something about yourself? How does this play out in your work? I’m interested in the XXXXXXXXXX and the XXXXX and in mute, muted, mutation and mutability. I’m seeking artists with established practice, where something important about them is unknown.
I want collaborate with them, leading up to a project in 2023. The last time a UK City will host the European Capital of Culture.
This work is inspired by a visit to the Thackary Medical Museum, Leeds - and their collection of hearing aids, the largest in Europe. They have Queen Victoria’s ear trumpet and an opera cloak that disguised two ear horns so the hearing-impaired wearer could pass unnoticed at the opera. I’m interested in objects and practices that are designed to cover-up their purpose.
Are you muted… or someone you know? or could you be an ally, a safe house, a contact? If so, contact me… in confidence… by whatever means.
Tim
PS. Some of the redacted information can be found on my website, some will be mentioned during my presentation. I’ll need to know you well before I tell you everything.
NAME of project:
Samovarteateret - Breaking boundaries
DECRIPITION:
Samovarteateret is the northernmost professional theatre in the world, established on the border between east and west, in Kirkenes, in 1990. Samovarteateret has, since its inception focused on our geographical location, and the international borders that surround us. The theatre developed new drama, and have produced more than 50 productions with artists from over 15 countries, with up to 8 languages on the stage at the same time. The theatre has, since the beginning, toured locally, nationally and internationally.
To us it is important to convey histories from this border area give them an art form and lift them up on to the stage. We have experienced that our performances, built on our histories from our border region, have an international appeal. It has led us further into the world, to other border regions such as Caucasus, the Baltic States and the Carpathian region
Samovarteateret is now working on its next performance “Lost in the Horizon”. This is a project we have been working on for several years. For a theatre that has always been concerned with the "significance of borders for humanity," the increased border development in Europe began our exploration of the Schengen border's extremes in the north and south.
Samovarteateret is now working on developing an EU project. Here we will use some of our experiences we have gained working with “Lost in the horizon”.
We want to find partners/organisations that is located in a border region, or close to a border.
We wish to collaborate with artists, researchers, philosophers and social debaters on the various places. Through practical workshops led by the Samovar Theater, we will explore the term "horizons" as seen from this specific border area, this culture and contemporary issues right here. Then the local partners will continue their work in their own region. The work must end in one type of display format; scenic, exhibition, movie, picture, text or some other art form.
The entire project will end with all the involved parties meeting for viewing in 2020.
We (Kosovar playwright and dramaturge Fjolla Hoxha and I, Ermina Apostolaki, scenographer and costume designer from Greece) are happy to announce that we will be presenting our idea about a Contemporary Balkan Theater Festival, named Stitching Peripheries. Balkans hold a very crucial role to Europe’s development. Its very rich cultural background and the political, social and economical instability have helped the Balkans grow a very interesting art scene. However, very little attention is paid to the vivid growth of it and also there is a lack of opportunities for Balkan artists to meet, exchange ideas and showcase their artistic practices. We believe that these countries have a different level of development in theater that derives from different backgrounds; therefore their interaction would enable the initiation of a support mechanism that could contribute to creating a new wave of theater in the region. Besides a few attempts, there is no established platform of theatrical cooperation between them. This international exchange of theater and theater-makers, which we aim to create, will operate at the same time as a platform for showcasing current practices, discussing regional cultural policies and eventually creating the circumstances for possible collaborations. Some of the countries of the Peninsula have been successful in continuing the practice of international theater festivals, but there is no initiative to focus more thoroughly on works that derive amidst them and cooperation remains vague and individualistic. We would like to initiate the creation of a platform that would dig into the common as much as the diverse experiences and practices of the past in these countries, both in the political and artistic sphere. Our goal is to generate a cross-cultural exchange that would bring out the region’s s potentials as a crossroad of cultural backgrounds through contemporary theater practices. We would be glad to see you in our presentation on Friday November 24, between 11:00 - 13:30, at La Raffinerie/Charleroi danse, in the Polyvalent room. Also you could write us for personal meetings.

Hello everyone! I am very happy to be presenting Delicate - a new show by experimental circus collective, Circumference, about the vulnerabilities that make us beautiful, but which we try so hard to hide. The show will be developed in 2019, and we are looking to build collaborations with UK and international partners as we shape the ideas of the project over the coming year.
Circumference are a UK based, international collective of multi-disciplinary performers dedicated to producing cutting edge contemporary circus theatre in response to topical social issues. Taking innovative approaches to staging, equipment design and working practice, we create Interactive journeys exploring the experiences of those who exist at the edges of society, striving to create antidotes to an increasingly disconnected and disenfranchised world.
Delicate will explore marginalisation through the lens of how our bodies become unruly during our lifetimes. Where once we took for granted our physical capability, as we age and lose ability, we also come to terms with our own humanity. Through interviewing sports people, physical performers and people with physical disabilities we hope to learn about this process and share the findings with our audience.
We are in the earliest stages of research for the show and would love to talk to people about our ideas. Artistically, we’re looking to connect with organisations and individuals interested in themes around ageing, disability, and the physical body, but we are also looking for commissioning, producing, and presenting partners who may want to collaborate on the development of the show.
Delicate will be made in collaboration with Diverse City – an award winning UK organization dedicated to equality, diversity and integrated practice in the Arts. We want to make a show that not only impacts its audience, but also anyone who comes into contact with it, including participants and creatives.
Please feel free to get in touch!
Hello everyone! It's Dimitar from Sofia based Arte Urbana Collectif (www.arteurbanacollectif.com). Our organisation is a partner of Jet Propulsion Theatre and Theatre of Wonder Festivals .
Here is a description of the project: Jet Propulsion Theatre (JPT), is a project carried by the Italian Arditodesìo Theatre Company and the Physics Department of the University of Trento – Italy. Sofia’s Arte Urbana Collectif has recently joined in. JPT (www.jetpropulsiontheatre.org) aims to develop a sense of curiosity and wonder around science, a thirst for knowledge, a better understanding of the scientific world, the people that live it, and the impacts of science. JPT has produced several original theatre productions, a range of workshops for science communicators, and more recently the concept of Augmented Lectures, special projects that unite scientists and artists in a novel, exciting and emotional way.
In January 2017 JPT launched the Theatre of Wonder Festival, which brought together, in the span of two weekends, over 1100 people around 4 performances, 4 Augmented Lectures and a series of workshops in Trento, Italy. The next edition of the festival will be held in February/March 2018.
The project is now mature enough to take the form of a Pan-European network. We plan to submit a project to the Creative Europe call for proposals (Support for European cooperation projects 2018 - Category 1 - Smaller scale cooperation projects), due 18 January 2018.
Our ambition is to launch international Theatre of Wonder Festivals in at least 3 EU countries (Italy, Belgium and Bulgaria), and inviting partners (artists, cultural and science operators) from a wide range of Countries to set up the foundations for a European JPT Network built upon several different “hubs”, which will continue to generate curiosity and wonder around science through the unique connection of performing arts and science. We are therefore actively looking for key actors in other countries to join in the project both as partners for the Creative Europe call due in January 2018 and for a more long term horizon.
See you in Brussels!

name of the project: WAR IS OVER?
In 2018 we are about to celebrate one century from the end of the 1st World War, under the threaten of new possible nuclear conflicts. “War is over?” is a reflexion on the sense of wars in our contemporary global society. It is an in-progress work originated from a previous studio on terroristic attacks and the related feeling of fear and mistrust. A format that might open to mixed languages and artistic expressions, audience involvement and urban contexts. It is a way to share a platform on a common theme where to match different practices.
The project moves from the pressure of such an issue grounded in almost every country. To receive others' feedback, to share ideas, and to find similar experiences to relate or to combine with, would be very helpful.
We will be presenting our TRANSPOETICO PROJECTS - the collaborative-creation, devised shows of MANIFESTO POETICO - commissioned by theaters, festivals, performing art centers and theatre academies around the world.
We are NEW MEMBERS in search of people and/or organizations that want to engage with us in finding places interested in this type of ground up, locally inspired, contemporary popular theatre.
Hello IETM. My name is Mike and I am the associate for young artists at the Almeida Theatre in London. I am looking for partners to take part in an ambitious project to bring young artists from across the continent together to connect, share practice and make work.
Our aim is to reach out to partners in Europe in an attempt to form a new international ensemble of young people from Europe and the UK, who will work with professional artists over twelve months. We will also use this as a way to share best practice across Europe.
The ensemble will undertake research, development and cultural exchange all culminating in the creation of a new show. This will be performed at the Almeida in July 2019 as part of a week-long festival celebrating exceptional work made by young people from across the UK and Europe.
The festival will provide a platform for outstanding theatre made by young people in the UK and Europe. It will also include discussions, workshops and skills-sharing to develop a deeper understanding of each other’s practice.
In these uncertain times (not helped by the UK!!!), it seems essential to me that young people are given an opportunity to connect, understand each other and create a sense of community which will be essential as we face the global challenges ahead.
The project is in the early stages of development, and I am open to hearing any ideas or offers, so if you're interested at all, please do come say hello or get in touch.
Thanks, mike.
'You look like you' explores the potential in interpersonal communication between the audience and one performer, between many heads and one body. Each performance introduces a new dancer to the audience. Based on this, the performance comes into being.
The audience is invited to instruct and comment on what the dancer does. The dancer interprets all suggestions consecutively. Words become action. The result is a shared choreography, an intimate and playful work that only comes into being through risk, self-revelation and experimentation. You Look Like You is both daring and charged with emotion.
The project is based on local dancers.
My name is Yaniv Cohen and I'm a Norwegian artist (with an Israeli characters).
If you are interested in in participatory project and in project that involve your local dance environment, or you are working with similar projects, Ill be happy to talk to you,
