Historically the first national creation centre in France, Lieux publics is labelled CNAREP (Centre National des Arts de la Rue et de l'Espace Public) and European production centre by the Ministry of Culture. In 2022, the structure merged with the ApCAR, Association pour la Cité des Arts de la Rue. Lieux publics, it's :  - A place for creation and production, a shelter for artists and companies making the city the place, object and subject of their creations; 30 projects hosted throughout the year, from incoming artists on a new scene to established companies in the field; - Events and highlights proposed throughout the year in the Aix-Marseille Metropolis to meet all audiences.  - The management of the European IN SITU network: 19 partners in 12 countries provide co-productions and cross-programming, European nomadic residencies, seminars and reflection, identification and actions on a continental scale; IN SITU (UN)COMMON SPACES (2020-2024) is the 7th project co-financed by the European Commission since 2003.
