Bio
Commedia of Errors Theatre Company create a variety of distinct theatre projects each designed to further our goals and provide benefit to the wider public, particularly those unrepresented in traditional theatre-going audiences. The company produces new pieces of theatre engaging new, non-traditional audiences, both by bringing them into theatres and by bringing theatre to them. Our plays have toured to theatres, art centres and community venues in Northern and Southern Ireland, London and Italy. The company also runs a successful outreach programme, including: ‘Plays Aloud’. ‘Plays Aloud’ is an elderly specialist theatre project with a particular focus on dementia. The project uses a cultural selection box of comedy, theatre, music and poetry to engage, invigorate and reenergise the elderly, improving mental health and slowing dementia related decline. ‘Plays Aloud’ has been touring to supported living facilities twice yearly since 2016 and has received an exceptional response from audiences and care workers over this time. We also run training and skills development workshops in performance and creative writing and work with other creatives to develop the plays and skills for other individuals and companies. In the past we have worked with professionals, schools, actors in training, community groups and prisoners to build and develop their abilities, help them to realise their creative potential and to engage with social issues.
