Is culture at all significant for possible social change? Can arts do anything that goes beyond the realms of symbolic subversiveness? Does the economic structure of the cultural sector really allow a genuine mutual cultural exchange between Europe and the outside world? This session invites individuals with experience of working with ‘other’ cultures in Europe to contemplate on the concrete role the European cultural organisation can play in this context.
