What we are:
An Independent Theatre Producing Organisation based in Belfast, Prime Cut Productions is one of Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland’s leading theatre companies. Prime Cut Productions are committed to producing excellent contemporary theatre that is accessible and entertaining for as wide an audience as possible, forge artistic links locally and internationally and continue to nurture the development of theatre practice and artists in Northern Ireland. Prime Cut has produced over 40 highly acclaimed Northern Irish Premieres of the best of International Theatre as well showcasing the work of Northern Irish Theatre Artists across the Island of Ireland and beyond. Our work is consistently recognised through ongoing award nominations and wins. The company currently produces two to three full-scale productions per year, at least one of which tours throughout Ireland complemented by a programme of ancillary activities. In 2013 Prime Cut completed a four year international collaboration with East West Theatre, Sarajevo and Mladinsko Theatre, Ljubljana that culminated in a European Tour of an ambitious large-scale multi-disciplinary Theatre Production that featured a Community Engagement Programme of over 500 people from Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Slovenia. Of these over 200 came from Belfast. Recently our production of the Chilean Trilogy – three plays by Chilean authors, received widespread critical acclaim from reviewers across the island of Ireland and named by The Stage UK as one of its Top 10 UK 2014 Productions. In 2014 our Artistic Director Emma Jordan was awarded the Breakthrough Fund in Cultural Entrepreneurship by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and the company was awarded a BBC Performing Arts Fellowship.
