The Ohi Pezoume Performing Arts Company was created in 2004. It is a non-for profit company that specializes in site-specific work within its own "UrbanDig Project" and it also creates performances for theatre venues within its "Writers of the World Project". UrbanDig Project discovers the secrets of buildings or public spaces in the city. We excavate material from the historical archive of each site, from the life and work of personalities related to it and from urban tales. We also spend time observing the site's present role in local society. By using this material we create an original dance piece or theatre play that introduces the spectator (or passer-by) to the site, creating an intimate city-citizen relationship. During the shows, we also organize site-specific charitable, environmental, educational as well as fun activities that engage us with the local community. UrbanDig Project has already brought to light 14 remarkable, though forgotten, corners of the urban and semi-urban scenery of Athens and its periphery. UrbanDig Project has been awarded the 1st Prize at TEDxAthens Challenge 2011.
