The Black Box Foundation is a public-interest non-governmental organization founded in 2007 in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv. The foundation’s mission is to develop and produce the "Black Box" ITDF and other cultural events, in partnership with the Municipality of Plovdiv and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The Black Box International Theatre and Dance Festival is held each year from May 31 to June 6 in the city of Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
From 2007, the Festival features innovative theatre and dance companies from all over the world, presenting 82 performances from 25 countries so far.
The Black Box ITDF presents original, challenging international plays and dance performances, in addition to organizing seminars and workshops.
The Black Box ITDF is organized by the Black Box Foundation, in partnership with the Municipality of Plovdiv and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria. Bulgaria's foreign embassies and cultural institutes also play an active role in co-organizing the event.
