Search for partners - Creative Europe cooperation project small scale

ILINX theatre/ILINXARIUM Production House is looking for partners to join a new project for next Creative Europe call at the end of november

Habitat_Possible scenarios Project

Objectives and Implementation Strategy
Specific objectives of the project
“Habitat_possible scenarios” is an idea of people, artists, cultures, experiences, disciplines, of natural and anthropic environment; a project that aim to enhance art as a unique and exclusive vehicle of meeting. The project arises within the cradle of Public Art, Land Art and Earth Works.
We would like to create a network of European and international realities that deal with different artistic and creative fields in order to create a circuit of exhibitions and artistic residencies in different periods of the year. Therefore, in the framework of this opportunity, the project proposal “Habitat_Possible scenarios” aims to become an exchange format between different areas of Milan (Italy), Sostanj (Slovenia), Busseol (France) and Venice (Italy) in order to increase their experience, their capacities, their European networks and to create an interaction between the works of artists and the social and cultural environment in which they intervene.
The project “Habitat_possible scenarios” aims, through the actions of the artists, to give new life to anthropised places, such as parks, buildings of historical and/or social interest, either active or abandoned, places of transit, following the REGENERATION -> REVITALISATION -> RECONNECTION scheme.
The specific objectives of the project are:
1. To promote training and internationalization of artists through their mobility, creating a widespread network of companies operating in different fields of art that may be the basis for the development of a replicable format in other contexts and situations.
2. To bring the audience closer to the forms of contemporary and performative art, through the involvement of citizens, schools and local communities in workshops and events throughout the duration of the project and through contact with the artists during the residencies. The artists will interact with the social and cultural environment in which they will operate.
3. To give new life and redevelop marginal anthropized places, such as parks, buildings with historical and/or social interest, active or abandoned, and places of passage. to promote the territory, its historical memory and identity and its natural resources, creating site-specific performances through dialogue with places and people and through research and mapping of human, creative and existing historical resources.

The framework within which the Habitat_Possible scenarios project takes place is the relation between the cultural and performative nomadism and the regeneration and revitalization of manmade places, such as parks, places, abandoned buildings and places of passage, so as to create a re-connection with residents.
Example of cultural and performative nomadism is the Chariot of Thespis: this kind of travelling theatre was anchored to the idea of a theater for the masses of strong emotional impact and able to convey the theater culture to forgotten population groups and it can be used as a means to focus on the regeneration - revitalization - reconnection of the places.
In this context arises Habitat_Possible scenarios: an idea of meeting people, artists, disciplines, cultures, experiences, natural and human environments; a project that wants to put in motion the art as a gathering tool unique and unrepeatable.
Habitat_Possible scenarios aims to become an exchange format between realities from different European countries in order to facilitate the formation of artists, increase their experience, broaden the contacts with Europe and create an interaction between their work and the social and cultural environment in which they operate.

The foreseen outputs are the following:
To promote training and internationalization of artists
To bring the audience closer to the forms of contemporary and performative art
To give new life and redevelop marginal anthropized places

Proposed actions
The project will be developed as a tour of artistic residencies in various European locations (4/5 at the time) by a collective of artists from different disciplines and nationalities to create site specific works aimed at the redevelopment of that specific territory. The project aims, through the actions of the artists, to give new life to anthropized places, such as parks, buildings of historical and/or social interest, either active or abandoned, places of transit, following the REGENERATION -> REVITALISATION -> RECONNECTION scheme.
The route will be first "exploratory", observation of spaces, contexts and people, aimed at the research and mapping of human, creative resources, and existing historic in every place of impact of the project. A team of researchers will arrive on site where an artist residency is planned from 15 days to a month before the collective of artists and during this time will work on-site meeting with the residents, interviewing them and working with them. The research, carried out also with the collaboration of the host organization in the first contact with the population and in linguistic mediation, where necessary, will aim to "activate" the involvement of the territory and will develop experimentally through the use of different instruments of observation, encounter and participation of different targets. Some examples of methods include:
participant observation, emotional interviews, scientific interviews, creative workshops, conversations, focus groups.
The collected materials will be shared with the artists who will participate in the residence, with the goal of being integrated into the process of artistic production. The research team will also have the function to document and monitor the development of the artistic and production process in relation to the territory.
The research work has strongly cross-sectoral character (urban planning, sociology, art, theater) and will be led by two professionals of different areas: artistic/cultural/creative area and urban area/urban planning. Both research tools and artistic elaborations realized during the project will also have the objective of creating narratives and representations of the territory and its inhabitants, fueling reflections on their own identity.
During the artist residency, which will last about 10/15 days, the performative group then comes into contact with the territory, will study the meanings, discover the relationship with citizens and will create an artistic representation that best suits the chosen location. This way it will be possible to transmit to the citizen, through continued dialogue during artistic residencies, an elaborate and enriched message of new ideas and reflections on the relationship between man, nature and urban spaces.
The places where the performances will come to life, natural parks, places of significance for the population or abandoned places, will be enriched with new meanings. The anthropic signs in the area and relived in another time, made more aware by the encounter with a residence time, will give way to develop a more careful reading positively stimulating the social environment. In addition, the development of the confrontation between the artists and the population will lead to greater knowledge and appreciation of artistic expression and to a greater spread of the contemporary art languages.
It will be enhanced the territory, its historical memory and identity and its natural resources, creating a new and constructive alliance between parks, art and urbanized environments, leading to reflect on the concept of "naturalness" of anthropized spaces.

Communication strategy
For the dissemination of the actions and results of the project will be implemented a coordinated communication strategy targeted to make the project attractive not only for the eyes of the art world, but especially to the citizens of the territories involved by the project actions.
As a privileged means of communication internet will be used, and through the creation of a dedicated project website, in English but also translated into Italian, French and Slovenian in order to give way to the citizens of the various countries to be informed and interact steadily without the hindrance of language barriers, either through the use of social media like facebook, twitter, instagram and more. It will also created and printed informative paper promotional materials (postcards, posters, brochures, banners) in an eye-catching graphics, convincing in the message, which will be posted and distributed at the very frequented territory points, so to reach also that group of users less affected by internet.
For greater visibility and accessibility the project logo will be inserted as a link in all sites of the subjects involved (institutions, associations, etc.), and on all promotional material.
Appearances on television stations at the local and regional level shall not be excluded, as well as appearances on radio stations at the local and regional spread and print ads on regional and national newspapers.
At the end of the project a final document will be produced that will tell the actions, the explored places but also the results of the study made by the University IUAV of Venice with its methodologies and the impact it had on the territories.
