Kinono 2020 | Open Call Water Element | "Four (plus one) Elements" | Residencies in Tinos Greece

After four years of continuous  presence on the island of Tinos, ΚΟΙΝΩΝΩ Tinos Art Gathering invites participants from all disciplines in the arts and sciences to apply to the Water Element of the ‘Four (plus one) Elements’ thematic series, which is implemented through four distinct 15-day residency programmes (fire, water, air, earth) until the fall of 2020 on the island of Tinos by the creation of original artworks and projects. Water element application deadline: 22 February 2020.

The ‘Four (plus one) elements’ is supported by the Greek ministry of culture and the NEON organization, under the auspice of the Hellenic ICOMOS, with the cooperation of the Athens School of Fine Arts. it will accommodate up to 200 guests of all disciplines in the arts and sciences, and it will be implemented through four distinct 15-day residency programs (fire, water, air, earth) until the fall of 2020 on a set of more than 60 indoor and outdoor locations of great importance all around the island of Tinos. The works created by the residencies of each element will be presented in January, April, August and October 2020, respectively and in a series of closing events between 2-10 November 2020, throughout the totality of the natural and cultural landscape of the island. Priority will be given to collaboration between participants and/or the involvement of local organisations and communities.

With reference to the diverse cultural and natural landscape of Tinos, the ‘Four (plus one) elements’ thematic series adds the element of time to earth, water, air and fire, referencing both the alternation of the seasons and human intervention on the natural landscape. The "Four (plus one) Elements" thematic series, is a
multidimensional and lengthy project which attempts to explore and reinvent the relationships
between the material “environments” of the island both used and unused, the various manifestations
of locality, the participants as individuals and the contemporary interdisciplinary practice in visual
arts, music, theater, dance, research and the humanities and new means of expression through
