What are contemporary performing arts for audiences?

.

For the last many decades, contemporary performing arts have been evolving at a fast pace, but did audiences follow this development? Who are those attending contemporary performances today and why? How do audiences relate to the different parts of the creation chain and the programmes? Does the general public perceive tradition and avant-garde?

How can we envisage performing arts of the future together with audiences? Do we create to challenge the audience or our own artistic codes? What are our assumptions regarding audience tastes and vision?
