Live art, alive in time

.

How can we make it possible to extend the performing arts beyond their conventional live existence? How can we allow our performances to be seen and experienced by a broader public, not restricted by the place and time in which they were conceived and presented? How can we build the heritage and history of live arts? What are the various means of archiving our art form, and how does each of these affect the content and meaning of the piece, if at all? Resorting to practices from other arts fields, this session will take a critical look at the motives, methods, and outcomes of preserving and documenting live performances.

This venue is fully accessible for wheelchair users.

We (32 cultural structures and Maison de la Danse in Lyon) decided few years ago (2011) to share our video archives on a web platform named "numeridanse.tv". Last 13th of March; we launched our 3rd version of the site with more than 2 500 videos on free access all accompanied by a specific English and French editorial content. Besides its rich video library, the site has also 3 additional sections: 1 - “THEMAS” which help the Net surfer to discover different aspects from choreographic art. 2 - "TADAAM!" dedicated to the young audience with 2 serious games "My Dance Company" and "Data-Danse" and others curiosities to enjoy the young spectators. 3- "NDLAB" Numeridanse Laboratory that tries to give access to special websites where are developed new technologies and new writing from an for dancers and choreographers. But the best way to understand our philosophy and to get a wonderful experience in the choreographic world is to have a visit at our site: https://www.numeridanse.tv/en/home

I leave here some useful bibliography for the event, where you can find some essays written by myself on some of the subjects I have been working on:
