IETM Spring Plenary Meeting
23-26 April 2015
Bergamo, Italy

On 23-26 April IETM gathers more than 500 performing arts professionals from all over the world in the city of Bergamo, Italy.
With the main theme Regeneration, the meeting will serve as an informal platform for networking and mutual learning.
Participants will discuss how to emerge from crisis and develop a sustainable future through reconnecting artists, organizations and audiences and regenerating resources and practices.
The artistic programme will be represented by the 7th edition of the Luoghi Comuni Festival, offering a snapshot of the Italian contemporary arts scene.

Organisers: IETM – International network for contemporary performing arts; Associazione Etre

IETM is a network of over 500 performing arts organisations and individual members (contemporary theatre, dance, circus, interdisciplinary forms, new media). It holds two plenary meetings a year in different European cities, and smaller meetings all over the world. Besides, IETM commissions publications and research projects, facilitates communication and distribution of information, and advocates for the value of performing arts.

Associazione Etre is a new network of Italian companies developing a residency project in the Lombardy Region. Etre was founded in 2008 with the financial support of Cariplo Bank Foundation, and currently there are 21 Etre Residencies associated.

Bergamo hosts the first IETM plenary meeting of the year. In October 2014, the network gathered in Sofia, Bulgaria, to discuss the opportunities for a positive change in the midst of economic scarcity. For this spring, the focus is turning towards the role of culture in regeneration - developing a sustainable future through reconnecting disintegrated communities and reviving some abandoned ideas, resources and practices.

Meeting will challenge the collective intelligence of the international performing arts community and give place for mutual learning, mentorship and know-how transfer between generations. Presenting current and future projects will facilitate networking and emergence of new partnerships.

Speakers & moderators: Frank Furedi - University of Kent - Canterbury, UK; Marilena Baggio - Lombardy Region - Milano, Italy; Marco Cavalcoli - Fanny&Alexander - Ravenna, Italy; Fanni Nanay - PLACCC International Festival - Budapest, Hungary; Daniel Gorman – independent researcher, coordinator; Festival Director - London, UK, and many others.
